My camera messed up and I had to let Adobe smart fix make them half way viewable. These are the ones Caretaker and I caught Saturday morning. The size limit there is 7 keepers that are under 14 inches or one keeper over 20 inches and 6 under 14". Two Browns and a Rainbow Five Rainbows And the area we were fishing in. This is the River Road/Miller Island access area.

Is it a mud bottom, or a rock bottom you wade out to fish on?

LOL getting down to it a little of both where you come off the bank to the gravel bar. It's off a trail a couple hundred feet from the parking lot. The parking area has a boat launch and a grass bank that is flat and is wheelchair accessible with parking. If the generators are on it's easy to fish from there.
I'm going up to the Weir dam in the next day or so to look at the wheelchair accessibility there. My wife wants to go fishing and I gotta find a good place she can get too. IIRC there is a concrete platform accessible to some good water. I usually fished up there {a mile upstream} when the generators are on. A person capable of getting out of the river quick can walk out on the Weir Dam or below it and fish with the river off. You gotta listen for the siren and the river current pitch. Up there if they blow the sirens you don't have much time to get out. Where we were you got about 30-45 or so minutes maybe less if both generators come on. You can hear the Weir Dam sirens down there also. BTW the Weir dam is not navigational. A river raft or a canoe could do it with the water running going downstream but the signs posted say Don't and it's TVA property there.
I've seen some bigger sized boats like cruisers and runabouts launch where we were at but the river has to be running and it's a challenge due to hard currents. They usually have out of state car tags too. I do not recommend doing that though. They are deeper draft and it's a good pace to crack a hull or bust a lower housing. I'd use a shallow draft Jon boat there, a flat bottom 14' fishing boat, or a flat water canoe and go slow Upstream especially when the rivers off. Downstream from where we are is canoe only for a mile or so with the river off. You have to get out and carry it in a few places.
If a person wants to use anything larger than a 14 footer like a Bass boat there is a third access area about two miles or so down stream from where we were called Peach Orchard that's much deeper and slower water.
Above the Weir dam to the main dam about a mile and a half stretch it's strictly canoe of light fishing boats you can carry down to the river and put in the water. I'll snap some pictures with scooter or wheelchair accessibility in mind and post them. Should be one day this week. After I get some new tires first hopefully in the morning.

Thanks for helping John, I would really like to camp around there and fish some, and need as much info from locals like you and caretaker to make it a success, How far are y'all from Crossville Tn. John, We are hoping to get up there in the next 2 months to visit my wife's cousins. We are sort of strapped for cash after my daughter has the part of tuition and books her loans don't pay. It came up to $1300+ this time, and that's coming out of a retirement check of $1690, so I didn't get my Gamecam this month, but I'd rather see her graduate where she can get out of my house. lol There's only room for 2 bosses in my house, and my wife and I already have those position's tied down!! Randy, I know how the College thing is. I've got a son and daughter in college. Fortunately their tuition and books are covered by grants and scholarships. However, their extra "needs" can be costly.

Randy Norris Dam State Park is about two miles from there. Actually it's two parks one on each side of the dam. IMO the south park is better. They have everything from tent sites to full service hook ups as well as cabins. Crossville is almost half way to Nashville from here right at 100 miles. It's at the 122 mile marker or exit on I-75 north of Knoxville. Do a trip map to the city of Norris and that will get you a good mileage estimate. The river is good for Trout fishing about any time. The lake is another matter though. It's hit and miss sometimes as to if you even get a strike all day. The lake has some good campgrounds nearby like Loyston Point or Anderson County Park. But they close up for camping about Nov 1 IIRC. Big Ridge State Park might stay open I'm not sure. Big Ridge is about 12 miles from the dam.

That river is a lot of fun but you have to be careful whether waiding it or canoeing it. John and I have done both and like he said. when the water is down you sometimes have to carry the canoe. Also if you get cought when he water comes up you may be in for a ride. Depends on haw far downriver you are when it catchs you. A 12 to 14 ft boat wth a 6 to 15 hp motor is good when the water is up. can also use them in places when water is down.
like john said there are two sections of the park. one on each sde of the dam. I prefer the rustic cabins and have stayed in them. I have not been inthe modern cabins. There is a swimming pool, play ground and tennis courts on that side.
Either way there is something for everyone including an old griss mill and a museum. Also several trails with varying degree of dificulty.

I'm proud for you they can get grants, and they got scholarships Carl. I don't want my children to work with their backs and wear themselves out before their times. My son and his wife both have a low outstanding amount they owe on their student loans from past attempts in their past, it's only about $400 for her, and $1000 for him, and, They are planing to go back, and applied this semester, but with the outstanding amounts weren't allowed, but they was both told that they would get grants when they pay off their loans, and she is paying hers off before the next semester starts. She is the only one working, he can't find work right now, he's been picking up odd jobs to help make ends meet, and where they don't, my wife makes him work, and clean her house, and I'll help him with a few dollars when he helps me out. I'll pay his loan off when I get my settlement, but he'll work that off too. I told him when things change and he get's a job, or gets in school full time, if he gets his degree I'll forget his heavy debt, just like my Savior has forgotten mine. Randy

David, I'm proud for you and your family and for K, make sure she keeps her focus. Most students that don't live on campus, generally make a lot better grades, that's the way it's been with my girls. My oldest graduated with a 4.00 average and was Magna Cum Laude, and the youngest is always been on the dean's list, but don't tell us as much as my oldest. My oldest did it all on her own. She got married after her 1st two semesters at UT Martin. Her husband had just graduated from UTM, and was working for Tyson chicken, And before she graduated she had 2 children and she now has her Masters degree. My wife quit when she had her 1 semester in, and we got married, and she never went back to school. I was partly to blame. Her mom was a school teacher, and I know it broke her heart. So David, keep her away from them boys, they'll marry them, and sometimes they never start back, but then like my oldest she married and got her masters degree. Did I say she had the best support system in the world, and still does!!

It's bad though when you got one of them big desk or bench mounted giant lighted magnifying glasses, string the rod up at home where you can use it, and still miss a line guide. Next time I'm bringing my head lamp. Those LED's Energizer head lamps at Wally World are worth the money. They also have a red function as well.

Are y'all fly fishing, I've never done that, and with my shoulder like they are, I don't know if I could. Long, long, time ago up in the mountains on a back country hiking/fishing trip I did. I did some in the river later but prefer using ultra light spinning rods instead with about 4# test. Plenty of them up there though.
