please tell me if I am wrong or not. The way I read this is the hunts are bow hunts only that coincide with the bow deer season. Even the either sex hunts.

That's the way I read it too. I had to use the big magnifying glass though. The fall hunts look like archery only and December ones are gun. I think that's the way it's always been. I remember bow hunting deer in the fall and Turkeys being legal also on those hunts.

Great Info everyone. I hope one comes out where me blind is at, but their still pretty scarce around our main highways, if you get out into the county, you see quite a few turkeys.

fall turkey season is almost like the spring......at least around here. at first light we will sound off will a lot of yelps and what not (my brother has even done this with a goose call) to get those birds out of the rack. we set up between the roosting area and the water/food. and then we call.... clucks, purrs even some loud squabbling... and we set. most fall birds after fly down will group up and then head out picking up stragglers on the way(in years past have seen flock up to 15 plus birds) just like the spring season it is about timing and being in the right spot(couple of seasons ago i took three birds out of a group after sitting for almost 2 hours of purring and clucking) and the right time. barring any ill weather most birds will start to chatter just before true light(still pitch black in the trees but ya can see into the clearings) once that starts just join in ;D your buddies will hate ya but the birds dont mind. then tone it down a bit with clucks and purrs..... anything to sound like turkey's in a group. keep your eyes peeled cause nine times out of ten you are gonna see em before ya hear em. long story short.... dont be afraid to call and do it often... and second... in mid morning keep a eye to the tree line for late starters.... during high winds look to the lee side of hills and pine trees... cold mornings look to draws and gully's for the warmer up drafts. and last but not least... if ya find a roosting area in the morning but miss out head back in the late afternoon and get set... most of them birds unless they get scattered will return to that same area about a 1/2 hour to an hour before dark.
bear in mind that this dont always work but in the past my brothers and i have taken more fall birds then spring and we always try to hold to the basic's ;D
best of luck and if ya can......seeing how im from ny and some birds just like the rest of this country have quirks......if it works let me know... if it dont but something else works for you let me know as well...
i just flat out love hunting and welcome all tips, hint's and those gut instinct's
mike.

In Arkansas they canceled the fall Turkey hunt this year and they are threatening to cancel the 2010 Spring hunt. This is because we have had two of the wettest Springs on record the past two years and the baby chicks have been devastated by the wet cold spring weather.
