KNS.com shows the downed bear and the rangers letting kids approach it. The man was an idiot for deliberately getting within 50 feet of a bear. It's just not a smart thing to do. NPS had no choice once the bear drew blood though but to put him down. Black bears will in fact kill humans.

They are wild animals. Usually mind their own. A doe can and possibly would seriously injure or kill a human to protect a fawn.

I read in the comments on one of the articles where somebody beat a bear with a stick that was killing a fawn then grabbed the fawn and took it to the Ranger station. That was in Cades Cove. Person was lucky the bear didn't kill them. Person also got a ticket too.

I can feel for the fawn almost. The bear was doing what is natural. The person took a big risk. If the bear had attacked the dufus the bear would have been put down. Some people don`t understand that not all animals are vegans.

Yep. I remember some kind of homemade bird feed mom and dad would make up that had meat in it..
