www.knoxnews.com/news/2010/oct/27/trophy-deer-head-brought-court-hunter-charged-ille/I wonder what he thought the judge was going to say? No license was likely the straw that broke the camels back. Baiting while illegal IMO is debatable if it even helps that much when a sufficient abundance of foods are around. The weapon? Bad law really. The prohibition should be it's usage and about any experienced hunter, processor, or game officer can tell pretty quick what hit the deer. IOW Second Amendment involving self defense. It doesn't state the firearm but I'm assuming a pistol. If someone uses a firearm to kill a deer on a bow hunt though throw the book at them.

That is a shame.
1 Huntin over bait
2 No license
3 No big game permit
4 No bow license
5 Carrying firearm on bow hunt
6 Doubt cast upon weapon used to take deer
7 carry permit??
Can I be on the jury?

I wonder where he was actually hunting? Sounds like someone was on to him before he took the buck really.

I`m wondering if he took the deer to a processor. Did he just take the head to have it mounted? How did he get caught? Yep, there are some questions left unanswered.

The TWRA officer might have taken the head not sure. The deer may have been chipped and TWRA checked the area. But to catch him with the firearm? He would have had to have been caught on scene by TWRA. My guess is the baiting got reported and the area watched possibly even by a game camera or three. Sounded like a public lands area too.

Yea, if he was on public land and huntin over bait pluss he may have said something to somebody. He must have known the deer was in the area. Yep he had it planned and left a trail of some kind.

The only time I've hear of something really working was a guy a long time ago tried doe urine. The guy was sitting down up against a tree and went to sleep. When he woke up six gentlemen deer were a few feet away looking at him.
