With a human population of over 6 billion to maintain only 5 hundred million would be a significant reduction. Humans are one of the nastiest creatures on the earth. When humans over populate an area there is a massive die off. This is due to pollution, starvation, disease and even war.Humans are using up resources faster than than they can be restored. How long can the earth continue to sustain our growing population. Food and water are vanishing.

Maybe what happened at Babel will happen again. If the technology rather than the languages gets confused that would cause a slow down. But with whats going on in the world I don't think that's what's next to happen. If not for GOD's presiding over us today some nutjob would have likely done blown the world to pieces several times over.

BTW I don't believe too much in the scientific doomsayers predictions. Mans impact on this earth is nothing compared to a natural disaster happening like the volcano in the 1800's.

True but it is damages that can be restored. The restoration doesn't depend on mans attempts to control environment but rather mans attitude toward GOD who is quite capable of healing the land without our help.

Every thing on Earth is based on cycles day and nights, days and weeks, weeks and months, months and years, spring-summer-fall-winter....life and death, death and taxes
look in the almanac Floods, earthquakes, heavy snow storms, high heat in summer it all come and go in cycles
some can be predicted like Old Faithful the geyser or the tides
even man made events like war come and go in cycles
Have we reached the point where there are more people than the earth can support? if we don't manage to blow it into a million pieces then we will one day go the way of the dinosaur and the earth will heal itself and begin a new cycle

That would be the natural course of earth without intervention and no nuclear destruction.
