State Species of Elk, Mulies, Antelope, Moose, Grizzly Bear, Caribou. I'd really like to get this board started, if someone has something to share. Pics, would be nice too if you've got them. Randy

Back 30 years ago it was a yearly event to head out to Montana and Elk hunt. I probably never killed more than one or two in all that time but we sure did have fun.
Elk is very tasty. I've eaten moose but never killed one. In Canada they raise moose much like we do a cow and harvest them for meat for the stores and restaurants. Has more of a beefy taste than beef I think.
Used to go to Canada a couple times a year bear hunting too. Spring and Fall hunts. We were each only allowed one.

I was reading on the net, about the moose, you could buy, but they also had elk farms here in the states that I read about too.

I hunted Whitetail deer in Michigan when I grew up but in 1981 I moved to Colorado and hunted the big 3 being Antelope, Mule Deer, and Elk. I actually enjoy Antelope hunting the best because they are swift and have keen eyesight. Most shots are taken at around 200 yards so they also strech you shooting skills. Antelope hunting also has the highest success rate and ranchers hate them so getting hunting access is easy. Mule Deer is tougher then antelope hunting and the shots are usually 100 yards or less unless you catch one out in the sage feeding. Elk hunting is the toughest by far as you have to move slowly all day and you are often in really thick timber and a 60 yard shot is average. All things vary but I love to Elk hunt but would jump at a chance to take a trophy Antelope. I've taken lots of Anteope and even hunted in Wyoming one year but I've not taken one with 16 inch horns with big wide bases. My biggest Antelope so far was one with 14.5 inch horns and with nice bases.

Congrats on the great hunts. i will probably not ever experience one of those hunts becouse of health conditions. It is possible I could get an elk tag here in Tennessee but unlikely. At this stage in my life I am content to hunt as I can. i also wish to help others hunt and try to preserve hunting for future generations.

Never hunted but seen them all. My dad got a once in a lifetime trip into Ontario on a hunt in the mid 1960's. Bunch guys loaded up in Knoxville in a converted school bus with Bucks Only written on the side of it and went on an archery hunt up there. I thing they were in an area called Wa Wa and came back with nothing best I remember.
