Since Saturday is opening day here in Tenn. for archery and they are saying 100% chance for rain, who plans on going to the woods anyways. I won't be. I let a buck get away one year as the rain washed out the blood trail. I hit it a little far back and no doubt it was a killing shot, just didn't happen in 100 yards. Since then I just don't like to hunt with a bow in the rain.

Seemed like every time I went it rained. They don't move near as much that's for sure. I'd usually walk along the edge of a thicket and hope to stir one up bedded down when it was raining. If it was pouring down it was back to camp.

I don't care for hunting in the rain either, If they call for a wash out, I'll stay in bed. If it real iffy I'll go, but where I hunted the last 2 years was over food, and It seemed the deer just stayed in the woods, or bedded down, and didn't move. I wouldn't want to ruin a hunt due to a tracking issue like rain. I shot a doe with a 44mag Ruger Lever action 2 years ago, and my cousin was with me, and I hit her low, or maybe in the cartilage, but there wasn't any blood we could find. She was walking on 3 legs, and caring her left front leg fully tucked to her shoulder. My cousin and I swore I had hit her in the heart/lung area. Yet we couldn't find any blood or a trail. I hope I get one this year! maybe the 3rd year is a charm!! Randy
