I don't want to get in the middle of any controversy, but I don't think what's going on there is reputable at all!!

Thanks Carl, It's a good feeling to know I'm not jinxed. lol I sure have enjoyed all the food the doe has provided, and I hope to take a buck this year too, but I've already bought another tag, I Ky. it's good for 2 more doe's, and you can pay them another 15 a pop for 2 more doe's. I just want a couple of doe's from the other farms I hunt as well as our lease.

congrats on your first deer the first will always stay with you as for the rest...... only if people will sit with ya all night(deer camp) and listen to it all over again ;D in all honesty though ya cant tenderize a rack if it has massive head gear... that is a bonus for me if not... my buddies as they are eating steak aint got time to talk about tape measures....that is for dessert ;D second... start to process your own deer... it aint hard and anybody can do it.... if ya can operate a knife or even tell somebody else where and how to cut...... well you will save a boat load of money and the pride from doing it your self.... makes the hunt that more enjoyable best of luck to you on your next hunts and keep us posted. mike.

I done my sons 2 does, and the buck he killed last year. We have been helping my father in law who has owned and slaughtered his own goats for about 25 years. I'll just have to study up on the cuts and whats, whats on a deer, cause all we ever done to the goats was gut, skin, and quarter them.

deer is just like a goat......just a tad bigger. cuts of meat are the same... steaks, roasts, ect... ect... let your fingers do the talkin to ya and before you know it my first deer i had processed as well....... after that i did a quick study my gramps used to slaughter hogs and beefers and he told me just what i told you the following year i had a small doe that i processed myself... it was not pretty and she took about 4 to 5 hours of hemming and hawing to get through but it was done. the next season had two deer wainting in the shed... got the time down to about 2 to 3 hours and the cuts looked somewhat better. now 9 years later i picked up a cheap band ,saw grinder, and food saver... the cuts look like they came from the local butcher(if i leave the bone in) and i get out of it what i put in to it... one deer i can have 1/4ered and cut in an hour(bone out) just under two hours bone in. practice makes perfect and i just tell people... i am just getting started...enjoy your meal ;D mike.

Can you buy a meat saw band to put on a band saw you cut wood on, I have a craftsman bandsaw, and was just wondering. I need to buy a meat grinder, and a food saver, and should have instead of giving the processor a $149 that could have went toward the purchase of some of the equipment.

buy the food saver. Michelle got one for christmas and I used to take my deer meat out of the butcher paper and put it in fgreezer bags then rewrap in butcher paper an freeze it. Michelle now just makes her own size freezer bags and seals it with the food saver and labels it and throws it in the freezer.
your jerky will last longer and taste better in the food saver bags
a year later it still tastes like it was fresh killed. she also likes to put spices on stuff before she bags it. she bags up everything including soup, spagetti and chilli in one to 2 serving size and all you have to do is throw the bag in a pot of boiling water to thaw it out and heat it up.
I fire up the smoker and do a lot of different meats at one time chicken, ribs ,shoulders and smoke sausage and she bags it meal size bags and we have grilled smoked stuff any time we want quickly with out having to fire up the grill.
also buy a meat tenderizer with the two wheels with a crank handle like an old clothes wringer and run you meat through it before bagging and freezing that way you use it once and wash it once instead of dragging it out , using it and washing it for every meal.
