I was asked if you cough and pull the trigger at the same time which sound reaches the deer first the shot or the cough? That's a good one!! I'm not a pro, but if the shot kills the deer he ain't talking to tell you. Sounds like an algebraical question of MRPIE, or MRNOT or PIE squared, that's over my head!!

Sounds real simple. I'm pretty sure of the answer too but I won't tell.

I'll give it a try since both are traveling at the speed of sound it's a tie. However , if you are using a fast bullet it travels faster then the speed of sound so the target never hears it because it's dead already. HAHA

I think somebody was sitting back with a bowl of popcorn laughing after posting the question. It made me look up speed of sound though. I was curious about storm tracking too. Let's see take a lightning flash and count the seconds till you hear thunder and divide them by about 4 or 5 and you have the distance in miles you are from the strike. Or a reasonably close guesstimate anyway. It's a pretty good way to tell if a storm cell is moving toward or away from you when out and about.

pie R round. Cornbread r square there fore the lightning hits the rifle the hunter is holding becouse he`s counting to see how far the thunder is away but actually the lightning has already struck the rifle, leaving one to wonder if the bullet was ever fired and if the hunter was able to count due to being struck by lightning. Only the deer know for sure.!!??!!

This also leaves the question of did the hunter turn his head and cover his mouth when he coughed. If so did this pull his aim off. If not didn`t his mother teach him better manners.

Your supposed to cough or sneeze in your folded arm of your elbow, and that also changes the dynamics of the situation. I think the Pro Staff answered correctly.

Ifin it screamed and stopped suddenly that meant Ruh Rho time to hug the dirt.
