Greg Matthews and I hunted a new farm in Claiborne Co today. Deer started moving early from every directions, coupled with turkeys and coyotes, the woods were literally coming alive with wildlige. At 8:30 I was watching 3 deer up on the hill to my right, although I couldn't see any horns, I believe the second one was a small buck that was pestering a doe. She was running and jumping, stopping and looking. I then noticed another deer coming down the opposite hill, intent on the action across the hill. I noticed he was of decent size and antlers were clearly visible. When the crosshair found his shoulder, the Omega roared, sending a 295 grain Barnes TMZ pushed by 1oo grains of 777. It sat him in his tracks, literally. Love the smokepole. Thanks to Greg for his friendship and comradarie. We've been on 2 hunts together and I've been fortunate to harvest 2 bucks. we estimate the buck to weigh about 110lbs or so.
