OH Man I remember when my boys were playing football in High School. One of them started in Elementary School and never quit until he was out of college. I never was one for football, I was more of a band guy. LOL!! So I've played football and basketball vicariously thru my sons. I did manage to play some baseball.

I never got to play a game in Highschool. I came down with Rheumatic Fever when I was in the 9th grade, I was practicing with McClelhan High school In Little Rock Arkansas. The largest Highschool in Litte Rock, our stadium was like a college stadium. I started on the 2nd string, and the coach was kicking our tails everyday, We was running the bleachers and I couldn't keep my joints in my legs from just hurting and aching. I had had rheumatic Fever for more than a year, when after one of them tail kicking practices, I was hurting so bad, and my joints we're all swollen up, and my mom carried me to the 1st Lady Dr. I had ever been to. She looked at me and then drew blood, and came and told me and my mom I had rheumatic fever, and had probably had it scine I was in the 7th grade, when my mom started taking me to the dr's formy leg pain. They all told my mom I was just having growing pains. I thank God that I had rheumatic Fever, It was a changing point in my life, I already knew how to play guitar, and was a good singer, but when the Lady Dr. stopped me from playing all sports, it was a blessing in disguise, because I really began to fall in love with music, and bought ever book I could find on guitar, and now I'm used by God, in my calling as a minister of music, and I'm an accomplished guitarist, and singer, according to all of my church, family, and my greatest critic, My wife, who can't sing a lick. lol Randy

My dad was 6'1", and weigh 135 when he and my mom got married, He to grew in his middle aged years to weigh around 190, but he got it dow to 180 and stayed there until he passed 3 and 1/2 years ago. He sure could play softball, he was a fast pitcher, and was a great bowler too. But he also love music, and played guitar too, just like his dad, my papa did!! Randy Randy

I was pretty much like you Randy. I had polio when I was 11 years old and that ended any kind of sports for me. My Mom was a piano player and she played by ear. She sent me for lessons and I learned to play piano and then in school I played trumpet.
Caretaker one of my boys was a slow grower and wasn't really big enough to play football. He was the smallest guy on the team and was the quarterback. By the time he was a Senior he was the biggest guy on the team.
The interest in music by passed my boys but my grandsons love music. The oldest plays guitar and the middle boy sings. They have put a little band together and perform at Church and school. Going to be interesting to see what the baby does. He's only a year old so will be awhile.

" The same happend to me, I gave my oldest 2 guitar, and piano lessons, but they would'nt practice The youngest has a tin ear like her mother. Now My oldest girl sings in the choir and sings specials at church, and has a great voice, and my son was a druggie for so long, he don't care about music, but he's got a great voice, he just wont use it,"right now". My grandkids are music lovers, and have either got my ol' classical guitar out playing on it, or dancing, break dancing to Christian rap music, and singing. My oldest is 8 and may have a tin ear like his dad and my wife, but I thought His mother My oldest girl did to, till I her her sing in a highschool pageant, and brought tears to my eyes. My 3 yr ol grandson is to young to tell, My2 year ol grd. daughter has a good little voice, but is real bashful. Her 8 mo. old little Brother loves to listen to me play and sing. I have a lot of Guitars for someone to inherit, and I want them to go to musicians, and not go to waste, hanging on a wall. I'll shut-up Randy My one request to my wife for the last 32 years is to not sing lulabyes to me kids or grendkids.lol It's to hard to undo the damage she causes. lol

I can't say for certain but as far as I know none of my boys ever did any drugs. Most boys will try most anything once but I never suspected drugs or alcohol either. I never even tried when I was in school and they were definately around. Them was the "Woodstock" days. ;D
It sure is a thrill to watch my grandson's play and sing. They both play football, basketball and baseball too.
And it was a thrill to watch my boys play sports. Those were the good ol' days

Those were the good ol' days I never suspected it until I found a makeshift bong in his car while looking for the repair manual he had in his car. Then one day whe he was about 20, he came in scared to death saying he was having a heart attack, he'd sniff crack coccaine in his nose, which he told me was a no no. On his weding day he was so high on maryj, and his mom and I didn't know, but he showed me in his weding pictures how his eyes looked, and I have been able to tell since. I never drank, did drugs, either. I also was a teen through the late 60's, and early 70's, and neither did my wife, so we was very ignorant when it came to drugs. To be honest, He came in on Saturday and told me and my wife he'd stayed clean for 8 months, but has been back on maryj, for the last 1 yr, but he'd sayed he'd been clean for 2 weeks, and that was the reason he wanted to talk with our pastor. I told my pastor last night, so he'd know how to pray, and counsel him. I want him clean, but how do I help him when I'm a food addict mysef, and as a diabetic, I'm a ticking timebomb. Y'all please lift him up in prayer, He's a good boy, and a great father to his 2 children, and his with truly loves him, from everything we can tell. Randy

He went with my daughters boyfried an me to pick up a 52" TV he paid a $100 for at an auction. It's a 2003 Samsung HDTV, and has a great pic on it, She'll just need a universal remote for it. My son said he'd been clean for 3 weeks, and was about to go crazy, so he's going with daughters boyfriend to an auction at Hallls Tn. tommorrow afternoon, and grandpa I going to help daughter watch the son 2 kids. He needs to keep away from all the old leeches who call their selves friends, that wanted to smoke up the maryj he'd buy and that's the last time he'd see them till they'd call and find out if he'd bought more. He told them all to hit the road, and not to come back again. He has 2 good Christian friends to rely on, and Jamie, my daughters boyfriend is begining to become a good friend to him. Thanks for the prayers, for God cares about the troubled souls of this world. Randy

The unknown fallen friend story was sad, but I can't get over the rainbow in the picture, it's like the Lord saying it's all gonna be alright. We had one drop dead at a morning practice where it was 75 degrees, about 75 miles from us in West Frankfort Illinois. His heart just gave out. It's sad when a teenager dies like that.
