I met my fishing buddy Phil at the boat ramp at 7AM this morning and we used my bass boat to fish. You always have that queasy feeling the first time you take the boat out each year hoping it will run as it should. Well it did and we have a good first day boating 5 bass, 3 Crappie, and 1 Catfish. All the fish were caught on bass Crank baits and Phil out fished me 6 to 3 but I caught the biggest bass at 17 3/4 inches. They have to be 15 inches on our lake to keep them and 4 of the 5 were keepers. I also caught the nice two pound catfish and another bass that was 16.5 inches. Phil had two keeper bass and a 13 inch bass and 3 really fat nice crappie all about 12 inches each.
The good news is the water temp was 57 degrees and the spawn won't start for at least a week if the weather holds. The b ass we caught today we holding just off the shallow flats and were males.

Sounds like you had a good trip. I haven't been fishing on the lakes in years. I reckon I better get with Pappy pretty soon and go see how his boat does. I live about 8-10 miles from the nearest launching ramp.

Ok you an pappy get first trip cause its pappys boat but I wanna trip too. OK. I'll catch him one day next week if he's not doing nothing and go try it out. I can hook it up to the old van it's still got the wiring harness and everything. My other van never had a hitch put on it. Both of them likely to be retired pretty soon. I hope. I have to find another Hi-Top first.

I still miss My Bass Tracker Bass buggy. It being a pontoon, was a lot easier to get on for me. When I went with my friend Big Jim, in his Stratus bass boat a few times, and will again if the Lord be willing, as soon as he get through with planting the crops with on his boss's farms!! I know there's nothing cheap about boat mechanics, so I'm glad yours did well Art!!
