Well as most of you know I have a 2003 Honda 1800 VTX Trike but yesterday a friend gave me a heads up that a guy in his town was wanting to sell his 1994 1500 GL Honda Gold Wing Trike and that he thought I could get it fairly cheap. So I went to his place and we called the guy and they brought over for us to see.
I went thinking that it would probably have 100,000+ miles on it and it would look and drive like a beater. Wow was I wrong as it only had 47,957 miles on it had been stored in a motorcycle shed and the paint and leather was all good. The bike needs a new battery and an oil change and it's good to go.
Anyway I asked the guy what he wanted for it and he said $1300 dollars so I went to the bank and got the money and he drove it back to my place. I took it for a spin last night and it drives like a dream except it is so quiet and has no vibration it's like driving a sewing machine. The guy said that on 2 lane highway driving it gets about 44 MPG but even if it gets only 38 it will make a great bike for long trips.
I still love Thumper but I'm sure I will grow to like the whizzer. So today I get it a new battery and waxed and detailed it.
I think I did good as everything works as it should and the tires are even half way decent but I will replace them because I don't know how long they have been on the bike and their internal condition from sitting in a shed with the high heat we have here.
