Trapper, Is that the color phase bear you killed? These pics are all great, and the pic in the dark with all those bears would make you want to carry a pistol and a big stick, and possibly a taser. have you had a one on one encounter with a sow, or a daddy bear. I know the sow is going to protect her cubs, I was just wandering what there attitude was in their on environment, and how they react too a human in their woods!! Randy

Randy, Thats the colored bear my hunter got. He's going into the NS.Big Game Society's record book as "one of those things you don't see in NS" Been my experience that ever bear is different, they all have there own attitude, much like people. Some have really good attitudes some have extremly BAD ones....And yes I've had several run in's with bears.I was put up a tree a few years back, and from the time my feet hit the ground I swore up and down that they'll never be another bear tree me. Twice since then I've stood my ground and luckily for me the bear{s} have backed down before I have.If you know your limits and can read the bears actions you can 98% of the time plan what there gonna do next. Now before you all get ta thinking I'm crazy.I'll give ya's that I might be.BUT I'd rather lose my life doing what I love to do and lose it to an animal I love rather than cancer or some other type of bed ridden thing.I'd rather go out outdoors and with a fighten chance of living than I would laying in a hospital bed waiting for the end.I hope ya's can understand that

i understand that completely. Done spent all the time I want attached to morphine while they call in the family and tell me there`s nothin more they can do. mind you I`m havin a great time now and ain`t in no particular hurry. But at times I do get tired and am ready to go on home.

I understand you too trapper, and thaks for the Bears 101 lesson, I know that most are just animals that are just as scared of you as we are them. and standing your ground is sometimes advisable. I can't climb a tree, I might could slowly run if forced to. I would probly be a full deal meal for on of these bears. lol
