ibug the meat if prepaired and cared for in the proper manor is better than beef. You gotta know how to cook it thought. Bear burger will give you some of the best burgers you've ever ate and a pot roast cooled off will give you the best cold sandwiches you've ever ate as well. Randy I think that little experience has taught me to start carrying my rifle in and out with me.lol

This is Ed,he was on his first bear hunt and although things didn't go as good for him on his first attempt at a bear we regrouped with him and he made good on his second try.Ed's bear ran straight ot the road and expired, gotta love that in a bear.

This is my longtime bear hunting friend Doyle,he also didn't fair to well on his first attempt but got the job done right on the second round of action.Doyle always hunts with his late fathers 300 Weatherby.

Great pics and stories on those hunts Trapper, what kind of gun did ED kill his bear with? It looks like a bull barrel on that rifle?

Ed has a Marlin 45/70 guide gun with a ported barrel, sweet shooting gun.He let me try it at the range before the hunting started I feel in love with that gun.

Did it kick and snort like a mule or did the porting help with the muzzle rise

Shot just as smooth as a 30-30.I was impressed with the porting and how that helped with the recoil and the jumping.I've got a Browning BLR in 308 that kicks like a mule and jumps like a rabbit

Bruce's bear had to spend the night in the woods we recovered it the next morning within minutes of taking it's trail again.Bruce killed his bear with his bow on the firstnight of his hunt.
